Since our founding in 1975, DF Gibson Architects has been built upon three underlying tenets.
Quality, thoughtful design that fulfills the needs of the client and its respectful of its environs; Highly effective service based on an interactive design process involving professionals, clients, and end-users; Attention to costs, schedule and technical quality that allows a building to meet a client’s project demands today and their functional needs well into the future.
The DF Gibson firm has been and continues to be a leader in applying achievable sustainable design and incorporating the latest technology into each commission, often educating our clients to the life-cycle cost benefits of green design and alternative energy solutions. The goal of each commission is to create lasting functional and energy responsible buildings while creating a rewarding and memorable experience for our clients.
OUR HISTORY
Founded in 1975, the firm’s early work consisted of master planning commissions for the Delaware & Raritan Canal Commission, the Snug Harbor Cultural Center, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark.
The firm directed Snug Harbor’s capital restoration and redevelopment programs, including the conversion of the former seaman’s retirement complex into Staten Island’s premier cultural center. Our relationship with many of these clients continues to this day.
From this beginning, we have become a full service architectural firm focusing on several core areas of practice – master planning, design, historic preservation, sustainable & energy efficiency design. We have served many of the area’s leading clients – universities, K-12 school districts, cultural and museum clients, municipalities and government agencies, private clients and developers. For more than 35 years, we have continued to serve the New York and New Jersey marketplaces with excellent design, outstanding service and innovative solutions.
OUR LEADERSHIP
At DF Gibson, we embrace a collaborative leadership style.
Each individual brings a wealth of experience in many project types – including master planning, historic preservation, K-12 and higher education, museums and cultural facilities, residential and healthcare facilities, and emerging energy systems (photovoltaics, cogeneration, etc.) Together, they direct and integrate our practice. offices, and design and delivery teams to serve our clients effectively on a 24/7 basis. Behind each client is a network of architects, designers, planners and consultants, a firm with a reputation for innovative design, super delivery, and efficient management of its teams and projects.
