HP Becton Regional High School - East Rutherford, NJ

The renovation and expansion of this 152,547 sf facility for the Carlstadt-East Rutherford Regional School District is creating an energy efficient, modern high school for the District.

The existing one-story library is being extended into a new two-story media library. The new media library will have an open steel stair located in a curtain-walled oriel bay window that will connect the floors and provide views across to New York City. The two levels are connected by a new elevator, which is housed in a new clock tower designed to be an iconic focal point for the building and marking the entrance to the auditorium. Second floor science labs include a green roof and physical science room.

The building also includes new acoustical windows for aircraft noise abatement, along with a curtain wall that incorporates exterior sun screens for solar shading and interior light shelves for light harvesting.  The proposed addition to the existing mechanical room will be housing a new absorption chiller/heaters.
