DF Gibson designed a new 65,000 sf school building on a tight site in Canarsie section of Brooklyn. The design allowed for the maximum use of the site and building. Because of the restricted site area, the play area was placed on the rooftop. The cafeteria and gymnatorium are on the lower level and can be used for community functions after hours. The library is located on an upper floor and provides dramatic views of the surrounding area. Façade materials were selected to allow the building to blend into the aesthetic of the existing residential neighborhood.
